NewsHill Station
Hill Station Precinct: a new chapter is coming to Hume.
We've taken on a forgotten heritage site in Hume, and we reckon it's going to be something special. Here's where it's headed.
Tucked off the Monaro Highway in the back blocks of Hume, Hill Station is a big (okay, slightly mad) project we've taken on: turning a forgotten heritage site into somewhere Canberra will happily spend a whole day. We won't pretend it's finished. But we're genuinely excited about where it's going, and it's already worth the drive.
Right now it's home to Burgermaker and Loading Zone. Burgermaker is our smashburger obsession made real: crisp-edged patties, molten cheese, soft toasted buns, all made fresh and fast from good local produce, and honestly some of the best in town. Next door, Jas at Loading Zone pours seriously good coffee. No fuss, no queue out the door just yet. Get in while it still feels like a secret.

That's just the start. Over the coming months the courtyard grows into a proper open-air space built for families: a grassed picnic area, a kids' playground, a shaded timber deck, veggie gardens, and a stage for live music and community events.
Further down the track, we'll carefully restore the historic Hill Station Homestead into a premium dining and event space: long lunches, weddings, private functions. We're keeping every bit of its heritage character; we're just giving it working kitchens, bars and a reason to be full again.
Good food, open space, and a bit of Canberra's history you can actually sit in, not just look at.
Beyond that? Landscaped gardens, heritage tours, and an events area built for concerts, festivals and markets. We're doing it in stages, on purpose, each layer adding another reason to come back. The timeline's still moving, and we'll be the first to admit it's ambitious. But Hill Station is coming to life, and this is just the beginning. Come watch it grow with us.
